There is a sound echoing in one’s mind. People sometimes listen to it alone inside, sometimes let it out. A monologue contains the person’s voice and story, spreads in space and resonates back. Individual monologues cross each other in a certain space and time to make a dialogue. Then those dialogues compose a story of all, beyond the individual dimension.

In the echo of these voices, I put the actions related to memory and forgetting. While the one, hurt and lonely, tries to erase the memory into the darkness, the other tries to make actions in the world and to heal. Through the process of resistance and obedience, the memory and forgetting eventually fill each other.

Voices constitute one complete sound piece with a simple background music, and I created a sort of landscape made of matches, which may add the spaciousness to the sound with strong and momentary flames.

사람들은 자신의 마음속에 울리는 소리를 그 안에서 혼자만 듣기도, 겉으로 꺼내기도 한다. 하나의 독백은 그 사람의 이야기와 목소리를 담고, 공간에 퍼져 울리고 또 메아리가 되어 돌아온다. 각각의 개인이 퍼뜨리는 독백은 서로 적절한 시간과 공간에서 만나 엇갈리거나 꼭 들어맞는 대화가 되고, 그러한 대화들이 개인을 넘어선 우리들의 이야기를 만든다. 

이러한 목소리의 울림에 기억하려는 행동들과 잊으려는 행동들을 묘사하는 말들이 담긴다. 상처와 아픔을 어둠으로 지워내려하는 한 목소리는 세상에 새로운 행위를 만들어 내는 치유의 목소리를 만난다. 저항과 순종의 과정을 지나 결국 기억과 망각은 서로가 서로를 채운다. 

목소리는 간략한 배경음악과 함께 하나의 완성된 조각을 이루고, 거기에 강하고도 순간적인 불씨를 만들어 내는 성냥의 풍경이 더해져 공간감을 더한다.
